Getting Started with TestFit's MCP 

 TestFit MCP is currently only available for the desktop application. Web functionality is not available at this time.

Important to Know

With your LLM connected you're ready to start creating and working on sites through the MCP connection. A few things to keep in mind:

  • Both environments (TestFit Desktop App & your AI agent) need to be open.

  • Start all prompts with "Using the TestFit MCP"

  • The MCP will never automatically consume a site credit for you. You will always need to manually confirm consumption of a credit and then inform the MCP you've locked the site area. 

Simple vs. Detailed Prompts

Prompts can be very simple or more detailed. You can start with something simple such as:

"Using the TestFit MCP, create a site from the parcel at <desired address>".

or something more detailed:

"Using the TestFit MCP - I need a garden apartment neighborhood on the site I have defined in TestFit. 3 levels with a mix of building types, roughly 40% building A, 40% building B, and 20% building C, arranged around a central drive with surface parking".

Deal Context & Constraints

There needs to be clear requirements and constraints 

  • Specify deal requirements first if available (building type + min/max quantity, e.g., "150–200 unit multifamily" or "160,000–280,000 SF warehouse") — this gives the MCP a target and what its limits should be.

Working in Tandem

The MCP allows you to work together with TestFit. You can define a site manually, adjust the setbacks, and then prompt the MCP to solve your site.

You can then modify the results to your specific needs in TestFit.

TestFit Terminology

Additional context when prompting your LLM it is recommended. Using terminology it is familiar with is not necessary but it will help in providing more accurate results.
