How do I Adjust My Power Parameters?

Your Power Parameters live in two specific locations: In the Data Center Buildings Layer, and in the properties of each data center in the Data Center Library.

Data Center Buildings Power Parameters

  • Electric Efficiency: usable MVA from site.
  • Electrical Availability (MVA): Mega Volt Amps -  Available to use on site.
  • (MW) Power Per Bay: Available power generated by each bay

Power Consumption

  • Use Per-Hall Power: Toggle on to enable power per bay. Toggle off to enable floor density efficiency mode.
  • (MW) Power Per Bay: Available power generated by each bay
  • Design PUE: Power Usage Effectiveness.
  • Floor Efficiency: Used in density mode (Gross building area x floor efficieny)
  • Target Power Density (W/sqft): Used in density mode (IT Power = Area × Target Power Density ÷ 1,000,000 = Building Gross Area x Floor Efficiency x Target Power Density ÷ 1,000,000)

Power Generation

  • Electrical Availability (MVA): Mega Volt Amps -  Available to use on site.
  • Electric Efficiency: usable MVA from site.

    Data Center Tabulations & Formulas

Your Data Center BLDG/PWR information appears in the Tabulation tab of the data output panel and provides information about the buildings themselves and the power within

    • Area

      • Density Mode = Building Gross Area x Floor Efficiency

      • Per-bay Mode = Building Gross Area (Floor Efficiency not applied)
    • IT Power
      • Density Mode = Area × Target Power Density ÷ 1,000,000 = Building Gross Area x Floor Efficiency x Target Power Density ÷ 1,000,000

      • Per-bay Mode = Bays x MW per Bay
    • Non-IT Power = IT Power × max Design PUE
    • Critical Power = IT Power + Non-IT Power
    • Elec. Dist. = Electrical Availability x Electrical Efficiency
    • Elec. Avail. = Pass or Fail. Pass if Electrical Distribution ≥ Critical Power. Otherwise fails
